Gordon Ramsay is getting called out.

The 54-year-old chef came under criticism from fans after he tried to “elevate” a popular dish in Puerto Rico on his YouTube series, Scrambled: On the Road.

In the episode, Gordon shared a new take on the favorite and classic food, Puerto Rican pegao.

If you’re unfamiliar, pegao isn’t a dish at all, but a Puerto Rican culinary term that refers to the crispy rice that cooks around the edge and bottom of the pot

Chef and food blogger Reina Gascon-Lopez explained to Today that pegao more refers to the a technique, rather than that particular dish itself.

“What’s most problematic here is that with the reach and size of his audience, his fans are going to take what he says at face value, even when a dish is incorrectly named and/or executed,” she shared.
