'Paddington 3' to Film in 2022 - Get the Sequel Details!

Paddington 3 is officially a go!

The highly anticipated sequel in the Paddington film series will begin shooting in the second quarter of 2022, Studiocanal CEO Anna Marsh confirmed at Cannes on Tuesday (July 6), via The Wrap.

Paul King, who directed the first two films, will return to executive produce the third film. The film’s director, as well as any additional casting updates and location details, are not known.

Paul King, Simon Farnaby and Mark Burton wrote the story. The screenplay is by Mark Burton, Jon Foster and James Lamont.

The previous two movies grossed more than $280 million and $225 million worldwide, respectively. Nicole Kidman starred as villainous taxidermist Millicent Clyde in the first, while Hugh Grant played Phoenix Buchanan, an egotistical actor and thief in the second film.

Paddington author Michael Bond, who died in 2017, said he was inspired by the stories of refugees during World War II who arrived in London with labels around their necks. (Paddington’s says: “Please look after this bear.”)
