Melinda Gates Will Leave Foundation After Two Years If She & Bill Gates Can't Work Together

Bill and Melinda Gates have come to a new decision about the future of their foundation.

People reports that the CEO of the foundation, Mark Suzman, sent a company wide statement that reveals what would happen if the divorcing couple could not continue to work together.

According to the email, Bill and Melinda have reached an agreement in which Melinda will step down if, after two years, either she or Bill decides they can no longer work together.

“They have repeatedly made clear their joint commitment and expectation to remain long-term partners and co-chairs,” the CEO writes. “However, as an additional step, they have agreed that if after two years either one of them decides that they cannot continue to work together, Melinda will resign as co-chair and trustee.”

It continues, “In such a case, Melinda would receive personal resources from Bill for her philanthropic work. These resources would be completely separate from the foundation’s endowment, which would not be affected.”

Bill and Melinda announced to the world that they were divorcing in May, much to the chock of everyone.
