Robert Downey, Jr. Mourns Death of Filmmaker Father After His Death at 85

Robert Downey, Jr. has released a statement after the death of his father, Robert Downey, Sr., at the age of 85 on Wednesday (July 7).

The 85-year-old filmmaker’s wife confirmed his death earlier today, and Robert posted a message on social media.

“RIP Bob D. Sr. 1936-2021…Last night, dad passed peacefully in his sleep after years of enduring the ravages of Parkinson’s ..he was a true maverick filmmaker, and remained remarkably optimistic throughout..According to my stepmoms calculations, they were happily married for just over 2000 years,” Robert wrote on his Instagram. He then added about Robert‘s wife, “Rosemary Rogers-Downey, you are a saint, and our thoughts and prayers are with you.”
