Greta Gerwig Cofirmed to Direct 'Barbie' Movie Starring Margot Robbie

Greta Gerwig has officially signed on to direct the upcoming Barbie movie!

Variety reports that the Oscar-nominated director has been tapped to direct the live-action take on the iconic Mattel doll.

Greta has been attached to the project since 2019 and was set to co-write the film alongside Noah Baumbach.

The film’s star, Margot Robbie, hinted in her British Vogue cover story that the Little Women director’s involvement in the film would extend past the screenplay.

The Barbie movie is expected to begin production in early 2022 after Greta and Noah have wrapped his latest feature, White Noise.

Plot details for the film have yet to be revealed, but in an interview Margot said that fans would likely to be surprised by the direction of the movie.
