Matthew Davis Had a Crush on Selma Blair When Filming 'Legally Blonde,' Says Co-Star

One of the cast members from Legally Blonde is dishing on some behind-the-scenes secrets!

The New York Times published an oral history of the cult comedy, which is celebrating it’s 20th anniversary this week, on Thursday (July 8).

Alanna Ubach, who played one of Elle’s friends in the movie, revealed that Matthew Davis had a crush on his on-screen girlfriend Selma Blair!

The actress told the outlet she realized that Matthew, who played Warner Huntington III in the movie, was crushing on his co-star during the film’s big climatic ending.

“I discovered that [Matthew had a crush on Selma] during the trial scene,” she explained. “We could see that heart beating every time he was around her. He was so nervous, and I thought, ‘How could someone looking like that be as nervous as he is?’ ”

Matthew admitted that he was grateful for all the advice Selma gave him during filming.

“I’ll adore her till the day I die,” he said. “I will always cherish her taking care of me and looking after me because I was so damn green.”

However, Jessica Cauffiel, who played another friend of Elle’s, said that she thinks Selma wasn’t the only person Matthew had a crush on.

“I think [Matthew] had a crush on everybody. At one point, he had a crush on Alanna,” she said.
