Uzo Aduba & Matthew Broderick to Lead Netflix Series 'Painkiller' About Opioid Crisis

Uzo Aduba and Matthew Broderick are teaming up for a new Netflix series.

The 40-year-old three-time Emmy winning actress and the 59-year-old two-time Tony winning actor have signed on to star in the upcoming Netflix series Painkiller, Variety reports.

The six-episode limited series will follow the origins of the opioid crisis in America.

Matthew will be playing Richard Sackler, a descendant of the billionaire Sackler family and senior executive at Purdue Pharma. Uzo will be playing Edie, an investigator leading the case against Purdue.

The series will also star West Duchovny, Dina Shihabi, and John Rothmam.

West will be playing Shannon, a new recruit on the Purdue sales team. Dina is playing Britt, a veteran sales rep for Purdue, while John will be playing Mortimer Sackler, the co-owner of Purdue Pharma.

If you missed it, the new opening up date for Matthew and wife Sarah Jessica Parker‘s Broadway play was recently announced.

Painkiller is set to begin production later this year in Toronto.
