Kyle Allen to Play Romeo in Revisionist Take on 'Romeo & Juliet'

Kyle Allen has landed an exciting new role!

The 25-year-old actor will be playing Romeo in the upcoming movie Rosaline, which is being billed as a “comedic and revisionist take on Romeo & Juliet.”

Isabela Merced will be playing Juliet while Kaitlyn Dever is starring as her cousin Rosaline.

The movie will retell “‘the most famous love story ever told’ through the eyes of Juliet’s cousin Rosaline (Dever), a sharp but idealistic young woman—who happens to be Romeo’s recent ex. What begins as an attempt to foil the famous romance and win back her guy becomes a journey of self-discovery as she ultimately works to help get the star-crossed lovers back together,” according to Deadline.

Rosaline is based on the book “When You Were Mine” by Rebecca Serle and the screenplay was written by 500 Days of Summer‘s Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber. Yes, God, Yes director Karen Maine is directing the project.

Kyle is best known for starring in the Hulu series The Path and the Amazon movie The Map of Tiny Perfect Things. He’ll next be seen in Steven Spielberg‘s West Side Story and opposite Joey King in the Paramount+ movie The In Between.
