Dev Patel Explains Why He Didn't Feel 'Worthy' of an Oscar Nomination for 'Lion'

Dev Patel is opening up about his struggle with his self-esteem.

In a new interview, the 31-year-old actor explained why feels like he didn’t deserve an Oscar nomination for his role in Lion.

“I didn’t feel worthy,” Dev shared with The New York Times. “That kind of speaks to my natural low self-esteem: You’re there with really impressive creatures, the best of the best, and you’re like, ‘I don’t know what I have to offer in this space.’”

For his role in the 2016 movie, Dev received the Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Dev starred in the film alongside Nicole Kidman, Rooney Mara, and David Wenham.
