It added that “Unfortunately, the production will not move forward.”

“We are very sorry we won’t be able to bring this beautiful story to the screen with our talented writer-director and cast. We send our sincere thanks to our cast, producers, and crew for all their passion and hard work.”

Announced earlier this year, Days of Abandonment was based on “My Brilliant Friend” by Elena Ferrante.

The movie would have revolved around Tess, a woman who abandoned her own dreams for a stable home life, and when she is abandoned by her husband, her world is thrown off its axis.

The project was due to begin filming soon in Sydney after receiving a $3.4 million grant from local officials. Natalie has been living in Sydney for a few months, as she shot the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder there.
