'Hotel Transylvania 4' Set to Skip Theaters, Will Premiere on Amazon Prime

Hotel Transylvania 4 will not be premiering in theaters.

According to Variety, Sony Pictures Animation and Amazon are nearing $100 million deal for the new animated feature to stream globally on Amazon Prime Video.

The outlet adds that the decision is likely motivated by the rise in COVID-19 cases due to the highly contagious Delta variant.

The box office for the family friendly franchise would possibly be affected given that there is currently no vaccine available for children under the age of 12.

The movie was originally slated for an October 1 release and no new release date has been announced.

Hotel Transylvania 4 is the “final chapter” for the series. The star-studded cast includes Selena Gomez, Andy Samberg, David Spade, Steve Buscemi, Kathryn Hahn, Jim Gaffigan, Molly Shannon, Keegan-Michael Key and Fran Drescher.

Original cast members Adam Sandler and Kevin James will not be reprising their respective roles of Dracula and Frankenstein for the latest installment, and will be replaced by Brian Hull and Brad Abrell.
