Demi Lovato Says Goodbye to 'Melon Cake' in New Music Video - Watch Now!

Demi Lovato is releasing a new music video in honor of their birthday!

On Friday (August 20), the entertainer celebrated their 29th birthday by dropping the music video for their new single “Melon Cake.”

Demi premiered the new music exclusively on Facebook, and also shared a behind-the-scenes of the making of the video on IGTV.

For past birthdays, Demi only ate watermelon “cakes” to avoid gaining weight.

“The song is me saying goodbye to melon cake,” Demi shared in a press statement. “It was a big step for me, and I wanted to celebrate it.”

In the behind-the-scenes video, Demi further went on to explain the meaning behind “Melon Cake.”

“I made this song to kind of stand up for myself and against my inner insecure feelings that I had when I used to want to eat birthday cake but was too afraid to,” Demi said. “I want it to be all about body acceptance, body positivity and just being able to make choices for yourself.”

In a recent interview, Demi explained why their gender identity journey may never be over.
