Andrew Cuomo's Honorary Emmy Award Has Been Taken Away

Former Governor of New York Andrew Cuomo‘s honorary Emmy has been taken away from him amid the New York Attorney General’s findings that he sexually harassed women, causing him to step down from his position in government.

A statement was released today by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

The statement read, via Variety, “in light of the New York Attorney General’s report, and Andrew Cuomo’s subsequent resignation as Governor, it is rescinding his special 2020 International Emmy Award. His name and any reference to his receiving the award will be eliminated from International Academy materials going forward.”

Last year, Cuomo was given the International Emmy Founders Award “for effective communication and leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
