Cynthia Nixon Throws Shade at Andrew Cuomo After He Officially Resigns

Cynthia Nixon threw some shade at former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo just hours after he officially resigned from office.

The 63-year-old politician ended his term at the stroke of midnight on Tuesday morning (August 24), two weeks after he announced his plans to resign. He was the subject of an investigation that found he sexually harassed multiple women during his time in office.

You might remember that Cynthia ran for New York Governor back in 2018, but she lost in the Democratic primary election to Cuomo. She received 35% of the votes while he received 65% of the votes.

Hours after Cuomo resigned from office, Nixon threw some shade at him over something else that happened.

It was announced that the Television Academy is stripping Cuomo of his honorary Emmy Award, which he received last year “for effective communication and leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Cynthia tweeted, “The difference between me and Andrew Cuomo? Neither of us is governor, but I still have my Emmy(s).”

Cynthia won an Emmy in 2004 for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Sex and the City and in 2008 for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
