According to legal documents, Megan is claiming that her own record label, 1505 Certified Entertainment including its CEO, former MLB star Carl Crawford, is trying to block the release of the remix.

Megan said in the legal documents that “Butter” will help her expand her fanbase internationally, but claims her label said that they don’t believe the song would be good for her career. She also claims the excuse is a cover, and they’re trying to get her to pay them to sign-off on the song’s release for six figures.

She also said last year that her label blocked her from releasing new music because she wanted to renegotiate the record deal, which she signed when she was 20. Her label denied those claims. She wound up getting a court order to prohibit them from blocking the release of her music. She claims they’re now violating that order.
