Kanye West is trying to change his name.

The 44-year-old My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy superstar filed paperwork this week, via TMZ, to have his name changed.

Kanye, who was born Kanye Omari West, is filing to change his name to simply “Ye.”

This isn’t the first we’ve heard of his intention to change his name: back in 2018, he tweeted: “the being formally known as Kanye West. I am YE.”

Kanye is currently preparing for another listening event for his forthcoming record Donda, following the release of Jesus Is King in 2019. The record was originally scheduled to be released in July, before being pushed back to August 6. As of now, there is no release date set in stone.
