Oscar Winner H.E.R. to Make Acting Debut in 'The Color Purple' Movie Musical
H.E.R. will be making her acting debut in the upcoming film adaptation of The Color Purple musical.
The 24-year-old singer-songwriter is already an Oscar winner after taking home the award for Best Original Song earlier this year. She wrote the song “Fight For You” for the film Judas and the Black Messiah.
The Color Purple was previously a movie back in 1985 and now Warner Bros. is turning the Broadway musical into a film as well. The original movie’s director Steven Spielberg and star Oprah Winfrey are among the producers of the new film, which will be directed by Black is King filmmaker Blitz Bazawule.
