Here's Why Ken Jennings Is Unlikely To Become Host of 'Jeopardy!'

After Alex Trebek passed away, many questions were raised on who would be named permanent host of Jeopardy!

Many fans instantly thought of Ken Jennings, who holds the record for the longest winning streak with 74 consecutive wins.

Ken would go on to claim the Jeopardy! Greatest of All Time champion title, and was also the first guest host in the search for a permanent host.

However, he’s probably not going to become host at all.

In a new report from The Wall Street Journal, Ken was actually on track to take over the podium spot, if it wasn’t for his own controversy involving his past tweets.

While Ken has apologized for the posts, which he describes as “unartful and insensitive” in an open apology. You can read his apology in full here.

That might have been one reason Ken isn’t taking over the spot, and another seems to be that he scored lower than hoped for on the audience’s charisma meter.

Apparently, focus groups reportedly “didn’t react well” to the idea of seeing Ken at the podium following the tweet revelations.

Ken also serves as a consultant on the long running game show.

Earlier today, Jeopardy! announced the fate of Mike Richards, who was set to become the host of the program.
