A Decision Has Been Made About Piers Morgan's Comments Regarding Meghan Markle on Live TV

The UK’s Office of Communication, often referred to as Ofcom, has made a decision involving the complaints filed against Piers Morgan with regard to what he said about Meghan Markle live on the airwaves.

“Mr. Morgan’s comments were potentially harmful and offensive to viewers, and we recognize the strong public reaction to them,” Ofcom said in a statement.

“But we also took full account of freedom of expression. Under our rules, broadcasters can include controversial opinions as part of legitimate debate in the public interest, and the strong challenge to Mr. Morgan from other contributors provided important context to viewers,” they continued, via The Telegraph. “ITV might consider the use of timely warning or signposting of support services to ensure viewers are properly protected.

Morgan‘s on-air tirade caused 57,793 complaints to the Office of Communication, which is more than the office has ever received.

Before storming off the set of Good Morning Britain, Morgan criticized the Duchess after she bravely came forward and spoke about her experience in the royal family.

Morgan no longer works on Good Morning Britain as a result of his inflammatory comments.
