Grimes Carries A Sword & Wears Metal Mask To Met Gala 2021

Grimes went full metal for the 2021 Met Gala on Monday (September 13) at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

The 33-year-old singer stepped out on the red carpet in a Iris Van Herpen dress, and completed her look with a tiny book in hand, a metal face mask a sharp, full sized sword and her hair in a pink top knot.

Grimes made her first Met Gala appearance in 2015, and then attended in 2016, and in 2018, with father of her child, Elon Musk.

The annual Costume Institute Gala is the fashion world’s equivalent of the Oscars and the event is usually held on the first Monday of May, but it was postponed until September 2021 due to the pandemic. The theme this year is “In America” and there will be a two-part exhibit with the second part debuting at next year’s Met Gala.
