Charles explained that the day before his father’s death, the pair discussed Philip‘s 100th birthday plans.

“We’re talking about your birthday,” Charles recalls telling his father, acknowledging that he wasn’t that interested in the idea. He also noted that he repeated himself at a louder volume as Philip was slightly hard of hearing at the time.

“Well, I’ve got to be alive for it, haven’t I?” Philip quipped, only for Charles to respond, “I knew you’d say that!”

The new documentary, Prince Philip: The Royal Family Remembers, is set to be released in the U.K. on Wednesday, September 22 at 9 p.m. on BBC One.

The televised special will feature interviews with the royal couple’s family members, including Prince William, Prince Harry and Zara Tindall, as well as Philip‘s longstanding household staff.

During his interview for the documentary, Harry told the crew that his grandfather was “always unapologetically him” and praised the way he supported his wife, Queen Elizabeth.

It was recently revealed that the late Duke of Edinburgh’s will would be kept secret for 90 years. Find out why
