Kate Winslet Wins Outstanding Lead Actress for 'Mare of Easttown' at the Emmy Awards 2021!

Kate Winslet is an Emmy winner!

The 45-year-old actress accepted the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series for her role in Mare of Easttown at The Event Deck at L.A. Live in Los Angeles on Sunday (September 19).

“Mom! They’re standing up,” she said at the start of her speech. She went on to thank her fellow nominees and added, “In this decade that has to be about women having each other’s backs.”

She then thanked series creator Brad Inglesby for creating “a middle-aged imperfect flawed mother,” as well as director Craig Zobel.

Kate concluded her speech by thanking her co-stars Evan Peters and Julianne Nicholson as well as the “almighty Jean Smart.” She also gave a shout out to her children and her husband Edward Smith, “who I get to hold hands with for the rest of my life.”

“Yes, I am the winner!,” she said as she exited the stage. Check out her full speech below!

Kate was up against Michaela Coel, Cynthia Erivo, Elizabeth Olsen and Anya Taylor-Joy for the award.
