Olivia Colman Wins First Emmy Award, Pays Tribute to Father Who Died During Pandemic
It’s a very bittersweet night for Olivia Colman.
The 47-year-old actress won her first ever Emmy award, winning Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth on The Crown, at the 2021 Emmy Awards on Sunday night (September 19).
While accepting the award, Olivia fought back tears, revealing she recently lost her father.

“I would have put money on that not happening,” Olivia said. “I want to say thank you very much for this, this is amazing. And what an extraordinary end to this extraordinary journey with this lovely family. I loved every second of it and I can’t wait to see what happens next.”
“I wish my dad was here to see this,” she continued. “So, I lost my daddy during COVID and he would have loved all of this.”
