Denzel Washington & Frances McDormand Star as the Macbeths in 'The Tragedy Of Macbeth’ Teaser

Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand share a tense moment in this first image and teaser for Apple TV+’s The Tragedy of Macbeth.

The two seasoned actors will star as Macbeth and Lady Macbeth in an eerie adaptation of William Shakespeare‘s play from Joel Coen.

Apple’s official description reads that it is a “tale of murder, madness, ambition and wrathful cunning.”

Macbeth, the play, centers on the 16th century ruler who sought power for its own sake. The movie will center around the couple in their 60s.

“It puts a very specific time pressure on the characters, but also on the storytelling, which I think is the real brilliance of the adaptation that Joel has done,” Frances shared during an Instagram live discussion. “There’s a real suspense. “The time is running out not only for the characters, but also it propels the storytelling.”

The Tragedy of Macbeth will be in theaters on December 25, and streaming on Apple TV+, January 14.
