Britney Spears' Lawyer Responds to Listening Device Allegations in New 'Controlling' Doc

Britney Spears‘ lawyer is speaking out in response to some of the allegations made in the new FX and Hulu documentary Controlling Britney Spears.

The doc is the follow-up to the Emmy-winning documentary Framing Britney Spears, which was released earlier this year.

In the 70-minute film, presented by The New York Times, we learned that Britney‘s security team allegedly put listening devices in her bedroom to monitor her private conversations. Her phone was also monitored, according to sources who provided interviews for the documentary.

In a statement that was shown in the final moments of the documentary, Britney‘s lawyer responded to the allegations.

“Intercepting or monitoring Britney‘s communications, especially sacrosanct attorney-client communications, represents a shameful and shocking violation of her privacy rights and civil liberties. Placing a listening device in Britney‘s bedroom would be particularly disgraceful,” her lawyer Mathew Rosengart said in his statement.

He added, “We intend to fully and aggressively investigate these matters.”

Filmmaker Liz Day told Variety, “We asked her lawyer and said we would like to interview her, but at the end of the day, there is ongoing litigation. Any lawyer would advise their client not to do an interview while that’s happening, so it’s not surprising that she wouldn’t be able to.”

There’s another documentary being released on Tuesday and the trailer has been released.
