R. Kelly Found Guilty of Sex Trafficking
The verdict is in for R. Kelly, who has been accused of running a ring for sex trafficking.
According to The New York Times, the 54-year-old producer has been found guilty on nine counts of sex trafficking and racketeering.
After nine hours of deliberations, the jury came back and convicted him of the violations, after beginning its deliberations Friday afternoon. He is now facing major jail time.
NYT adds that when the verdict was read, he “sat motionless in the courtroom as he was found guilty of all nine counts of the racketeering and sex-trafficking charges against him. His facial expression was hidden by a mask.”
R. Kelly was arrested back in July of 2019 and faced 11 counts of aggravated sexual abuse in a case involving four women. Three of the women were minors when the alleged abuse happened.
He had also been accused of knowingly infecting some accusers with a sexually transmitted disease, bribery, kidnapping, forced labor and producing child pornography.
He has previously denied any wrong doing in the accusations.
While waiting trial, R. Kelly was reportedly attacked in jail.
