The Rookie's Titus Makin Exits Show, Showrunner Speaks Out

Titus Makin has officially left The Rookie after three seasons.

The 32-year-old actor – who also performs as a singer under the name Butterfly Ali – was killed off in the premiere episode of the fourth season using a body double. The season opened with Sergeant Grey reviewing security footage of Angela Lopez (Alyssa Diaz) and Jackson West (Makin) being kidnapped by Sandra “La Fiera” De La Cruz (Camille Guaty). The footage shows West being killed.

“What I can say is that Titus [Makin] was not coming back to the show,” showrunner Alexi Hawley told TVLine. “So we needed to do the best that we could to honor the character who’s been so primally a part of the show.”

TV Line reports that Titus has been absent from social media for months and will not be doing any exit interviews about leaving the role. He has been a series regular since day one.

In 2019, another star of The Rookie announced their departure due to allegations of discrimination and sexual assault.
