BTS Is Ending Deal With Columbia Records - Find Out Where They're Going Next!

The members of BTS are making a big move.

The South Korean boy band is ending its distribution deal with Columbia Records, Billboard confirmed Thursday (October 21).

Instead, the group is going to be heading to Universal Music Group, according to the publication’s sources. The new partnership is a licensing and distribution deal through Geffen/INgrooves/UMG.

The move is described as the result of a “years-long effort by UMG CEO Lucian Grainge and Interscope Geffen A&M CEO John Jannick to woo the HYBE executives.”

A reason for BTS leaving Columbia is chairman and CEO Ron Perry‘s reported lack of relationship with the band. Billboard‘s report claims the exec never even met with HYBE founder Bang Si-hyuk the entire time since their 2018 deal.

One band member also made headlines due to dating rumors swirling online in recent weeks.
