Katie Couric Reflects on Dating Brooks Perlin, Who Was 17 Years Younger Than Her

Katie Couric is looking back on her relationship with Brooks Perlin.

The 64-year-old journalist and former Today anchor dated Brooks, a man 17 years her junior, for five years.

Katie met Brooks back in 2006 at a fundraiser for cancer research. For those who don’t know, her first husband Jay Monahan died from colon cancer at age 42 back in 1998.

“I had a really fun time. He’s a really good person,” Katie told People while promoting her new book. “You know, I’d never done anything particularly scandalous. I’ve always been kind of, goody two-shoes and sort of between the lines.”

She added, “And I think it was during a time where I was really struggling professionally, and I think I had just a real ‘screw it’ attitude. Like, I’m going to have a good time. And that’s what I did. I didn’t think it was a forever thing, because he is 17 years younger than I am, but it was fun being a little naughty!”

Katie and Brooks split in December 2011 after five years of dating. She started dating John Molner the next year and they got married in 2014.
