Elon Musk Is Willing To Donate $6 Billion To End World Hunger, But Only If This Happens

Just recently, Elon Musk and many other very rich stars were called upon to donate $6 billion of their earnings in an effort to end world hunger.

The United Nations’ World Food Programme director, David Beasley, spoke to CNN in a new interview and said that if the world’s billionaires would make a one-time donation of $6 billion, that would “help 42 million people that are literally going to die if we don’t reach them.”

“What if it was your daughter starving to death? What if it was your family starving to death? Just, wake up, smell the coffee and help,” he said, specifically calling on Amazon’s Jeff Bezos and Elon.

Now, Elon has responded…

Elon made a statement saying that he’s more than willing to donate that amount, but only if they could prove that the majority of that donation would actually go to ending world hunger.

As the story picked up traction online, Elon took to Twitter and revealed he would sell $6 billion in stock from his electric vehicle company, Tesla – but only if the World Food Programme could describe, on Twitter, how it would work.

“If WFP can describe on this Twitter thread exactly how $6B will solve world hunger, I will sell Tesla stock right now and do it,” he wrote. “But it must be open source accounting, so the public sees precisely how the money is spent.”

David Beasley replied back, saying that the headline of that particular article was “not accurate. $6B will not solve world hunger, but it WILL prevent geopolitical instability, mass migration and save 42 million people on the brink of starvation. An unprecedented crisis and a perfect storm due to Covid/conflict/climate crises.”

CNN has since changed the headline and added a clarification.

“With your help we can bring hope, build stability and change the future,” David added. “Let’s talk: It isn’t as complicated as Falcon Heavy, but too much at stake to not at least have a conversation. I can be on the next flight to you. Throw me out if you don’t like what you hear!”

Elon still challenged David to release the program’s current and proposed spending so that the public could “see where the money goes.”
