South African Rugby Star Jannie Du Plessis' 10-Month-Old Son Dies in Tragic Drowning Accident
Our condolences go out to South African rugby star Jannie du Plessis and his wife Ronel as news just broke that their 10-month-old son, Jan NathaniĆ«l, died in a drowning accident in the family swimming pool during Jannie‘s 39th birthday celebration.
“On November 16 at about 7 p.m., police were called to a scene of drowning whereby a 10-month-old baby boy fell in the swimming pool,” a police statement said, according to The Times of London.
“We, as a Lions family, aren’t doing well. I can confirm that this tragedy took place,” Chief executive of his Rugby team, the Lions, Rudolf Straeuli, said in a statement to Sport24. “We are all devastated.”
Jannie and Ronel are also parents to two daughters, Rosalie and Hele. Our thoughts are with the family during this tragic time.
