Ridley Scott Responds to Patrizia Reggiani's Criticism of 'House of Gucci'

Ridley Scott is reacting to Patrizia Reggiani‘s criticisms over his movie House of Gucci.

Earlier this year, the 72-year-old ex of Maurizio Gucci, who served 17 years of a 26-year sentence for the murder of her ex-husband in 1995, spoke out about Lady Gaga‘s portrayal of her in Ridley‘s upcoming film.

“I am rather annoyed at the fact that Lady Gaga is playing me in the new Ridley Scott film without having had the consideration and sensibility to come and meet me,” she said. “It is not an economic question. I won’t get a cent from the film. It is a question of good sense and respect.”

Lady Gaga later discussed her decision in an interview with British Vogue, explaining that she approached the story with a “journalistic spirit.”

“Meaning that nobody was going to tell me who Patrizia Gucci was,” she added. “Not even Patrizia Gucci.”

Now, Ridley is weighing in on Patrizia‘s comments.

Ridley told BBC’s radio show Today, “It was about murder. They forget: He was murdered. One of the brothers went to jail for tax evasion. So don’t talk to me about making a profit. Are you kidding? When you do that you tend to become public domain.”

He also shared his thoughts on the fatal shooting that took place on the set of Rust, in which cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed.

“I don’t know what a real gun or real ammunition was doing on the goddamned set,” the director said, per THR. “Someone should get in trouble for that. Absolutely crazy. You never have any live ammunition near the set.”

He went on to say that he typically uses guns with a solid barrel that can’t fire.

“You get a click and a recoil, but nothing will happen,” he said. “You can put a cap in it, but it’s not a blank.”

Lady Gaga recently revealed she improvised one of the most well-known lines from House of Gucci. Check it out!
