Janet Jackson Doesn't Want to Be Associated With 'NYT' Documentary

Janet Jackson is reportedly not trying to be part of the New York Times documentary about her 2004 Super Bowl halftime show performance.

The outlet, which also released the Framing Britney Spears documentary amid the #FreeBritney movement, released Malfunction: The Dressing Down of Janet Jackson last week to explore the backlash after the incident with Justin Timberlake, and the “Control” pop icon is reportedly not interested in associating herself.

Her former stylist Wayne Scot Lukas, who created the Super Bowl costume, told Page Six that she’s not interested.

“She wants that documentary to go away. She didn’t ask for a ‘Free Janet’ documentary. She’s not interested,” he said.

She declined to be part of the documentary, and also urged others not to be in it as well, he said.

“She asked us not to do it. She wants to tell her own story,” he continued.

Janet has her own documentary series coming in 2022.

“They’re going to discuss it, and she’ll have her final say. I’m not privy to her final say, I just need to be aware of my story and I’ve been loyal for 18 years,” he added.
