BTS Talks Their First Concert in 2 Years: 'Everyone Was Very Nervous'

BTS is opening up about hitting the stage for their first concert in two years.

The K-pop group just performed at their first in-person concert since 2019 on Saturday night (November 27) in Los Angeles, after being forced to cancel their 2020 U.S. tour amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The band discussed what it was like returning to the stage at a press conference.

“Before a concert we always talk amongst ourselves and do a huddle in the green room. Before [the first song] ‘On,’ everyone said ‘I think I’m gonna cry.’ Everyone was very nervous,” Jin said, per People. “We were afraid to make a mistake but that made us practice that much harder.” He added, “Everyone said they were going to cry but no one actually did.”

Jimin went on to say, “I was very nervous. I was scared.”

RM, Suga, V, J-Hope and Jungkook also shared their excitement about the performance, which was even more meaningful after their appearance at the 2021 American Music Awards.

“It didn’t seem real until the AMAs. [They] gave us all of that energy for yesterday,” said Jungkook. The band took home three AMA awards at the event, including Artist of the Year.

“It got me really emotional beyond words,” RM admitted, calling their concert, “the beginning of our new chapter.”

Jimin also added, “We felt powerless and felt depressed. We wanted to bring healing to everyone. We’re back where we belong.”
