NBA's Enes Kanter Changes His Last Name After Becoming U.S. Citizen

Enes Kanter is making a big change.

The 29-year-old Boston Celtics center player became a United States citizen this week, and decided to change his last name to celebrate.

The athlete, who was born in Switzerland and raised in Turkey, changed his name to “Enes Kanter Freedom” upon earning U.S. citizenship on Monday (November 29).

“It’s Official Mr. Freedom,” he wrote on Tuesday (November 30) with a picture showing him in a shirt that read, “U.S. CITIZEN, EST. 2021.”
