Eddie Mekka Dead - 'Laverne & Shirley' Star Dies at 69

Eddie Mekka has sadly passed away.

The actor, best known for his role as Carmine “The Big Ragoo” Ragusa on Laverne & Shirley, died at the age of 69 on Saturday (November 27) at his home in Newhall, Calif., via Variety.

The news was later confirmed by the star’s official Facebook account.

“It is with deep regret that we share with you the passing of our beloved Eddie Mekka. Eddie passed away peacefully in his Newhall, California home on Saturday, November 27, 2021. He was 69 years old. At this time, we do ask that all media inquiries be withheld during his family’s time of grief and mourning. We welcome you to share your memories of Eddie and your condolences to his family on this fan page. Rest In Peace Eddie🙏🏻😢,” the message reads.

Cindy Williams, who played Shirley on the sitcom, wrote on Twitter: “My darling Eddie, A world-class talent who could do it all. I love you dearly. I’ll miss you so much. But oh the marvelous memories.”

In addition to the show, he got a Tony nomination in 1975 for his leading role in The Lieutenant on Broadway. He was also in the series Blansky’s Beauties. He appeared twice on Happy Days as Ragusa.

He also starred in shows like Guiding Light, 24, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.

Our thoughts are with Eddie‘s loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.

We have sadly lost many stars in 2021.
