Jessica Chastain Defends Jeremy Strong After 'New Yorker' Profile

Jessica Chastain is standing up for Jeremy Strong.

The 44-year-old actress spoke out following much discussion online surrounding the New Yorker‘s profile of the 42-year-old Succession star, called “On Succession, Jeremy Strong Doesn’t Get the Joke.”

In the article, Jeremy‘s intense dedication to the role is discussed, including sustaining injuries, as well as co-stars weighing in with concern about how much he puts into his method acting, to the point of him acknowledging he might be seen as “difficult.”

While the profile sparked much debate on social media about his acting and method acting in general, Jessica spoke out on Twitter.

“Ive known Jeremy Strong for 20yrs & worked with him on 2 films. Hes a lovely person. Very inspiring & passionate about his work. The profile that came out on him was incredibly one sided. Don’t believe everything you read folks,” she wrote.

“Snark sells but maybe its time we move beyond it.”

She then shared a defense piece, called “Why attack him for taking his job so seriously?”

She also recently opened up about putting a friendship at risk on-screen.
