Tom Holland Reveals the Secret to Getting In & Out of His Spider-Man Suit

Tom Holland goes for a walk around Columbus Circle with his brother Harry in New York City on Thursday (December 9).

The 25-year-old Spider-Man star kept it casual in a pink Supreme sweatshirt and jeans for his day out, pairing the look with a black beanie and blue sneakers.

Later that day, Tom stopped by Late Night with Seth Meyers to promote the latest installment in the Marvel franchise, where he revealed that he has a special weapon on set to help him get in and out of his superhero costume.

Tom began by saying there are some “really big things” in Spider-Man: No Way Home that the team at Marvel wants to keep a secret.

“This film really is the celebration of three generations cinema,” he shared. “So we want to keep as much of it back as possible.”

Seth then congratulated Tom on being able to make back to back films within the franchise without have to deal with any shutdowns.

Tom replied, “I think, when it comes to something like that the rules really stem from the top. When playing Spider-Man on set you have a responsibility to follow the rules so that everyone sees you doing it and copy you.”

“That said, there were times where people had a bit of fun with it,” he continued. “In the Spider-Man suit, because the thing is so tight, the zip sometimes gets stuck. And it’s a nightmare, I’ll have like half of it off, like ‘Please just get this thing off of me.’ And we have a bottle of lube that we squirt on the zips to like, get it open.”

“That’s why we have one too,” Seth quipped as the audience laughed.

“We were on set and Mitch Bell was there,” Tom added, explaining that Mitch was one of the big Marvel producers who would be very worried about a COVID-19 related shut down.

He continued, “This bottle of lube does suspiciously look like a bottle of hand sanitizer. So he walks over and he’s like, ‘Hey man, can I get some of that hand sanitizer?’ And I look at my brother Harry and I’m like, ‘This is about to be golden.’”

“So I’m squeezing all this stuff on him… And he walks off and you can see him on set like, ‘This goddamn hand sanitizer won’t go,’” he laughed, adding that later that day the same thing happened with a boom operator. “I promise that’s the only two times we did it though.”
