Willie Garson Only Told One 'And Just Like That' Star About His Cancer Battle 'Until Things Became Undeniable'

Willie Garson filmed episodes of And Just Like That before his death earlier this year and only one cast member knew about his cancer battle for most of his time on set.

Cynthia Nixon is opening up about working with Willie on the HBO Max revival series and how she didn’t know about his diagnosis “until things became undeniable.”

“The death of Willie Garson was obviously, completely unlooked for, unknown,” Cynthia said (via Deadline).

Sarah Jessica [Parker] was the only one that knew he was sick when we were filming until things became undeniable and then we were told,” she added. “Thankfully we were able to shoot with him not just before he was sick but after so it could be something we could discuss and listen to him about. I know that was very important for us and I think it was something that was important to him, too—not to be hiding that from us anymore.”

Willie, who played Stanford Blatch, passed away on September 21, 2021 at the age of 57 following a battle with pancreatic cancer.

There was a shocking death in the series premiere of the new sequel series.
