'Marry Me' to Have Dual Release in Theaters & on Peacock

Universal has made the decision to release Marry Me in theaters, but also on streaming simultaneously due to the state of the box office.

The Jennifer Lopez, Owen Wilson, and Maluma rom-com is set for Valentine’s Day weekend 2022, and was originally supposed to only debut in theaters.

Now, there’s been a change.

THR reports the decision to move the film to streaming and theaters is because “Hollywood studios face an uncertain marketplace for theatrical films, and particularly adult-skewing titles.” West Side Story had a very soft opening this past weekend, earning just over $10 million for the entire weekend.
