Gugu Mbatha-Raw Reacts To Comments About Her Playing Meghan Markle on 'The Crown'

Gugu Mbatha-Raw is opening up about the comments of her possibly portraying Meghan Markle on Netflix’s The Crown in the future.

The 38-year-old actress, who can next be seen in The Girl Before, opened up about the possibility of playing the Duchess of Sussex.

During a recent interview with Tatler, Gugu was asked about playing Meghan on the series.

“Oh my God, that’s hilarious,” she admitted, before saying that she’d “be very flattered; I’d have to consider it.”

Gugu continued on, mentioning that she has not Meghan, nor her husband, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, anywhere in Los Angeles.

“I wish them luck. It’s a tricky transition to make.”

The Crown showrunner and creator Peter Morgan has said before that Meghan‘s story would not be highlighted on the Netflix program, although Gugu seems to be up to the task.

“I just think you get so much more interesting [with time],” he shared in an interview about the reason. “Meghan and Harry are in the middle of their journey, and I don’t know what their journey is or how it will end. One wishes some happiness, but I’m much more comfortable writing about things that happened at least 20 years ago.”
