Nicole Kidman fully embraced Lucille Ball while filming Being the Ricardos.

While promoting her new movie – which is now available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video – the 54-year-old actress decided to take up smoking cigarettes in order to sound more like the iconic actress/comedian.

“They decided her Lucy needed to have a deep smoker’s voice, so I started smoking,” Nicole shared with DuJour.

“If I warm up for a minute, I now can do her voice standing on my head,” she added.

In another recent interview, Nicole spoke candidly about all the criticism she received when it was first announced that she would be playing Lucy.

Despite all the initial criticism, people are now raving about Nicole‘s performance as Lucy and she’s been nominated for a Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award for her role!
