Grace Mirabella Dead - Former Vogue Editor-in-Chief Dies at 92

Grace Mirabella has sadly passed away.

The former Vogue Editor-in-Chief passed away at the age of 92 at her home in New York City on Thursday (December 23), according to The New York Times.

Grace first joined Vogue in 1951 as an assistant in the merchandising department before working way up to Editor-in-Chief, taking over the role from Diana Vreeland in 1971. She served as Editor-in-Chief until 1988 when she stepped out and launched her own magazine, Mirabella.

Shortly after news broke about Grace‘s death, current Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour shared a sweet tribute regarding her passing.

“Grace guided Vogue through a momentous time in American history — emancipation, sexual freedom, and vital and hard-won rights for women — and she made that time come alive on the magazine’s pages,” Anna shared via Vogue. “She eschewed fantasy and escapism in favor of a style that was chicly minimalist and which spoke clearly and directly to the newly liberated ways we wanted to live.”

Our thoughts are with Grace Mirabella‘s loved ones during this difficult time.

We’ve sadly lost so many stars in 2021.
