Jean-Marc Vallée Dead - 'Dallas Buyers Club' & 'Big Little Lies' Director Dies at 58

Jean-Marc Vallée has passed away.
The Canadian director, producer, and writer suddenly passed away at the age of 58 at his cabin outside Quebec City on Sunday (December 26), according to Deadline.

As of right now, the cause of Jean-Marc‘s death has not been revealed, and it is being reported that his family and close friends are “in shock.”
Jean-Marc is best known for directing and Dallas Buyers Club, which earned him an Oscar nomination. He also directed the first season of Big Little Lies, which earned him an Emmy Award and DGA Award.
Jean-Marc also directed the movie of adaption of Wild, starring Reese Witherspoon, and the HBO miniseries Sharp Objects, starring Amy Adams and Patricia Clarkson.
After news of Jean-Marc‘s death broke, his longtime producing partner Nathan Ross shared a statement with Deadline about his passing.
“Jean-Marc stood for creativity, authenticity and trying things differently. He was a true artist and a generous, loving guy,” Nathan shared. “Everyone who worked with him couldn’t help but see the talent and vision he possessed. He was a friend, creative partner and an older brother to me. The maestro will sorely be missed but it comforts knowing his beautiful style and impactful work he shared with the world will live on.”
Jean-Marc is survived by his two sons, Alex and Émile, and siblings Marie-Josée Vallée, Stéphane Tousignant and Gérald Vallée.
