Britney Spears Says Her Family 'Hurt' Her, But She's Focusing on Her 'Accomplishments'

Britney Spears is ready to move on.

On Monday (December 27), the 40-year-old Glory performer took to Instagram to reflect on the “hurt” her family caused her and why she’s choosing to push herself in the New Year.

“I had an experience three years ago where I stopped believing in God,” Britney wrote. “From every angle I was being hurt for no reason and my family was hurting me. I went into a state of shock and the way I coped was being [in] fake denial. It was too much to really face.”

“Honestly my family embarrassed me and hurt me deeply,” she continued, adding that “tooting my own horn and seeing my past accomplishments reflecting back at me actually helped” her to cultivate her confidence, referencing the post she shared last week where she said she was trying to be her own cheerleader.

“Last year was growth for me… I still have a ways to go!!!” the “Piece of Me” singer wrote in a separate slide.

“My goal this year is to push myself a bit more and do things that scare me,” she continued. “We are just people and I’m not superwoman but I do know what makes me happy and brings me joy and I try to meditate on those places and thoughts that enable me to experience it.”

Britney‘s 13-year-long conservatorship was dissolved last month and she hasn’t been shy about calling out her family members and former business partners for their role in it.

Last week, it was revealed that her father Jamie Spears now wants her to pay his legal fees, a request that her lawyer called an “abomination.”
