“It’s so good to be back,” host Phil Keoghan said at the episode’s start. “We know how much you have missed The Amazing Race, and believe me, we have missed making it for you. Tonight’s episode was filmed before the outbreak of COVID-19, which prompted us to suspend shooting at the end of the third leg. I am excited to tell you that after a long break, we did finish shooting this season and once again, the world is waiting for you.”
11 teams are then seen at their homes prior to the pandemic, as Phil begins the race with a video message on their phones. The contestants are instructed to fly to London and visit Trafalgar Square for their next clue, tasked with finding “The Queen” and “Boris Johnson” having a nosh.
From there, they travel to Scotland, where they had a 20-month break from filming once the pandemic began.
The Amazing Race is set to premiere on Wednesday, January 5, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and you can watch the exclusive look down below!
Last year, Phil hosted a different show while The Amazing Race was postponed.
