Who Is Amy Schneider? 'Jeopardy' Contestant Wins Most Games of Any Female Contestant

Amy Schneider is making history.

The 42-year-old engineering manager set the record for most consecutive wins for a female contestant this week, beats out Julia Collins, who set the record of 20 wins in 2014.

“I never dreamed of matching Julia’s streak. It’s hard to say how I felt: proud, dazed, happy, numb, all those things,” she recalled on Twitter.

Her record-holding win came after she correctly identified the ship that Officer Charles Lightoller boarded on April 15, 1912: “What is the Carpathia?” she said. (It was the ship that rescued survivors of the Titanic.)

Amy‘s total prize money was brought to $806,000, which ranks as the fifth highest amount won by any contestant, and the highest amount won by a female contestant in the show’s history.

She won for a 22nd time on Thursday (December 30), which brought her winnings to $831,600.

She’s now No. 4 in consecutive wins overall, with No. 1 on that list being Ken Jennings, who is now a co-host, and who won 74 consecutive games in 2004.

Amy Schneider is a transgender woman who lives in Oakland, Calif., with her girlfriend, Genevieve. To celebrate her identity, she wore a pin with the trans pride flag in one episode, inspired by Kate Freeman, who wore a similar pin last year when she became what believed to be the first openly transgender woman to win on the show.

“It was something that I wanted to get out there and to show my pride in while not making it the focus of what I was doing there. Because I was just there to answer trivia questions and win money,” she said, via New York Times.

Amy began her run on the show on November 17. She’s known to describe her experience on Twitter afterward, and has also grown a fandom while writing about her cat, Meep. We wish her the best of luck on her next game(s)!
