Ryan Gosling Makes Rare Comments About His Daughters, Raves About an Eva Mendes Movie

Ryan Gosling has made some rare comments about his longtime partner Eva Mendes and their two daughters, Esmeralda and Amada.

The 41-year-old actor opened up to British GQ for a new in-depth interview to promote his partnership with watch brand TAG Heuer.

“Time, in general, is something I think about a lot now. My kids are growing up so fast I need to keep an eye on the clock in a way I never used to,” he said. “Partnering with TAG also signifies that for me.”

Ryan was asked if the pandemic played a part in his feelings on time. He said, “You know, I’m not sure. I feel like I need more time [laughs] to process it. But we have two kids, so we spend a lot of our time trying to keep them entertained.”

“Our kids were at a difficult age not to be able to see other kids and interact with people, even though Eva and I did our best,” he said about being with the kids in lockdown. He admitted that they did “more acting in quarantine than in our films. Tougher crowd, though.”

Ryan said that when he and Eva were home-schooling the girls during the pandemic, they turned to his mother, who home-schooled him for a year when he was a child. He said, “She was the perfect person to ask for help when we needed it.”

Ryan even talked about being on set with his young girls. Esmeralda once watched him in a fight scene with Harrison Ford on the set of Blade Runner 2049 and shouted to her dad in the middle of a take, “You’re winning!”

When Ryan was making his movie First Man, he says his daughters would tell people that their dad worked on the moon. He was asked if the girls have a better understanding of his job now and he had a funny response.

“Yeah. I think they finally figured it out… that my name is actually ‘The Gray Man’ and I’m an assassin for the CIA,” Ryan said, referencing his upcoming Netflix movie The Gray Man. Check out the photos we have from set!

Ryan says his family watched one of Eva‘s first movies while at home during lockdown.

“My Brother The Pig was a big hit. I highly recommend it, by the way. Eva’s amazing in it,” he said. You can stream My Brother The Pig for free on The Roku Channel and Tubi.
