Novak Djokovic Denied Entry Into Australia Amid Backlash Over COVID-19 Vaccine Exemption

Tennis star Novak Djokovic has been making headlines this week after he was granted an exemption to the COVID-19 vaccine requirement to play in the Australia Open, set to take place later this month.
Tennis stars are required to be vaccinated, or must get a medical exemption in order to play. Australia’s entry rules, however, require all documentation be in place to be let in to the country.

According to TMZ, when Novak landed in Australia on Wednesday morning (January 5) it was discovered that he had requested the wrong Visa, which did not include any medical exemptions. He was then refused entry into the country. It’s unclear if he will be able to get the proper Visa in time to play in the Open.
Novak, who had COVID-19 in June of 2020, has refused to confirm if he’s vaccinated, and this appears to be further proof that he’s not.
15 other celebrities have refused to get the vaccine at this time.
