Jessica Chastain Explains How Much She Hates Singing on Camera

Jessica Chastain is opening up about her fear of singing on camera.

The two-time Oscar-nominated actress talked about it while appearing on The Late Late Show with James Corden alongside Penelope Cruz on Wednesday (January 5) in Los Angeles.

Jessica and Penelope were on the show to promote their new movie The 355, which is in theaters now.

During the interview, James remarked at how Jessica sings so confidently in her new movie The Eyes of Tammy Faye.

“I would rather do full nudity than sing a song,” she responded. “I felt so embarrassed and so just completely out of element and out of my comfort zone. And especially in Tammy Faye, she was so confident from the first note. She’s yelling up to Jesus. It’s just beyond anything I’ve ever been comfortable with.”

Jessica also talked about singing for her upcoming TV series George and Tammy, in which she plays country singer Tammy Wynette opposite Michael Shannon as George Jones.

“It’s amazing but I’m drinking a lot of Bourbon, I’m not going to lie,” she joked. “There’s a lot to get over my nerves. We’ve got 30 songs we’re singing so it’s no joke.”
